Crescendo, the residential building in Venlo, is completed. It covers nearly 25,000 m2 gross floor area and consists of 74 luxury apartments, 42 assisted living apartments, five group homes, several commercial and healthcare-related facilities and underground parking. The surrounding area and the vision behind the complex played an important role with the design.
Crescendo is located between the wide green of the floodplains of the
Maas, a park to be built and the architectural and cultural historical
important building; the Nedinsco-factory. The city center is on one
side, a residential area on the other side. Crescendo is the transition
to the center of Venlo as a city block, usingĀ dark basalt lava stone as
wall cladding on the outside to create a rugged look. Little
walkthroughs and trails cut through the Crescendo-complex and make a
connection with the residential district. The shape of Crescendo is
inspired by the design of its historicĀ neighbor, with distances of the
windows and the heights of the floors tailored to the Nedinsco-factory.
The towers of the residential complex form an interaction with the tower
of Nedinsco and the high residences on the other side.
At Crescendo a high quality of living is combined with all levels of
care. It is build life-proof, so the houses are suitable for all life
stages. A pleasant, secure environment is created, where residents can
feel at home.
This has been given a lot of thought when designing the complex and
there are numerous things that contribute to a pleasant living
environment. By using different heights for the five towers of
Crescendo, the maximum of sun, view and accessibility to the green
surroundings is achieved. Light wall cladding of concrete composite on
the inside of the complex creates a clear open environment, while the
shape and positioning of the buildings give an intimate and protective
feel to the area. Green textured glass panels on the facades mirror the
reflectance of the river Maas and give the complex a warm appearance.
