Cultuurstrip, Amstelveen
Amstelveen has a new city centre. Shops, restaurants and bars, public transportation and cultural institutions are concentrated around the central square. The Culture Strip forms one of the sides of the central square.
The school of music, the adult education centre and the pop stage P60 are accommodated in the 250 meters long building. The existing Theatre is integrated and expanded. All institutions share one lobby, but they can also function independently.
Because of the transparency of the facades and inner walls, the activities in the building contribute maximal to the lively atmosphere of the square. The residential tower next to the Cobra Museum, also built by Benthem Crouwel, reflects in the glass facade.
