A2 Hotel, Amsterdam
The A2 Hotel is a blue beacon for the south-eastern entrance to the city of Amsterdam. An entirely glass façade shields the massive outer wall with round windows. The sixty-meter-tall hotel has a compact floor plan with a diameter of only 24 meters, which results in a slim distinctive silhouette. The limited space is used as efficiently as possible; with the lobby downstairs, 120 rooms encircle the staircase and lifts in rings. The restaurant on the upper two floors, at a height of 55 meters, offers guests a wide and impressive view over Amsterdam. Parking spaces on the ground floor are hidden under a vegetation-covered roof, so it blends in with the environment. And through the windows of the rooms and the light on the façade, the building is illuminated at night. Hence the A2 Hotel it also clearly visible and recognizable for everybody in the surrounding area after sundown.
